The challenge

Cars are a major pollution contributor, producing significant amounts of pollution. Poor air quality increases respiratory ailments like asthma and bronchitis, heightens the risk of life-threatening conditions like cancer, and burdens our health care system with substantial medical costs. Besides this medical problem, traffic and passenger vehicles play a big role in the current climate crisis. For example, in The Netherlands almost 20% of all carbon dioxide emissions was produced by traffic in 2019. Lastly, the vehicles on the road are causing serious traffic jams every day, which the government is trying to fight for years without success.

The solution

We have a gamificated solution to reduce pollution in the cities of the Netherlands. With the app Green Go you can motivate the users to avoid their “comfortable” habit to stick with to use a car instead of public transportation in a funny way. Users get rewards when they leave the car at home, because they get to their destination in a more environmentally friendly way and contribute to less trafic jam. with the obtained rewards they can buy things in the virual world.
